About A+a Online

Art + Australia has established A+A Online, an exciting online platform designed to allow for current and quick responses to contemporary art issues. A+A Online provides opportunities for emerging and established writers to develop reactive, creative, critical and reflective considerations of artistic content.

Commencing 2020, A+A Online will invite guest editors on a yearly basis.

Introducing 2020 guest editors

In 2020 A+A Online is pleased to have Lisa Radford and Yhonnie Scarce as guest editors who will commission online contributions. They centre the publication around the banner title of The image is not nothing (Concrete Archives). Their aim is to generate a discussion around the three tenets of this research: the nuclear, memorialisation and the nation state and their relationship to the archive, presenting each month new commissions as well as republished archival material with permission.

Recent past

From 2016 to 2019, Tessa Laird was the editor of A+A Online. The aim was to publish fresh and relevant voices, and artists’ perspectives based on diversity of content, and diversity of geographical location throughout Australia and abroad. The articles were under different categories: Dispatches (from traveling artists), Discursions (review of current exhibitions), Disquisitions (or critical provocation around a specific idea), Discussions (interviews between artists curators and writers), Disruptions (hybrid forms of writing) and Distance (review of past exhibitions).

The editors and publisher respectfully acknowledge the Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation, on whose land Art + Australia is produced. We acknowledge their ancestors and Elders, who are part of the longest continuing culture in the world.
